Notes:

• This is a solution to back up data only and is therefore not the preferred option for especially Microsoft servers as a comprehensive disaster recovery plan will dictate that the system state data be backed up as well.
• We offer this service as a user managed and Easy IT managed solution - EIT managed means it is monitored daily by Easy IT staff by means of an SLA
• The consecutive backups performed comprise only a binary differential set, which means only the bytes changed in the data source will be transferred, significantly reducing the load on your Internet connection compared to full differential backup options - in other words, if you already backed up the presentation you have been working on but added one more slide from the last backup, only that slide will be backed up.
• The user has the ability to go "back in time" and restore a specific file at multiple "locations" in time
• These backups can be scheduled according to your requirements and can include all networked data available to one source point - in other words, all the backed up data need not be on one computer and it is is automated and requires no user interaction to run
• Specialized software is supplied and needs to be installed on the "source" (the machine acting as the backup server for the data) and we have options available for Linux, Windows and Apple based environments
• For local customers data is stored locally due to speed and accessibility reasons
• For international customers, data is stored physically as close to the customer as possible
• We offer cost saving options relating to Internet connectivity and bandwidth for these services, to South African Customers specifically
• The data can be accessed securely via any able Internet connection and can also be restored on request by the user. For large restores we provide a manual restore (which is billed according to the data volume involved and your physical location in comparison to the data centre the data is stored in) to save on bandwidth costs associated with large data transfers to your site via the Internet
• The data backup is encrypted and stored in an encrypted environment, which only allows access to the person(s) that have the encryption key - yourself as an example, it is therefore very important to remember and keep this key safe as loosing it will invalidate any restore options and recovery of the data is impossible without it
• A management interface is provided where a user can perform all management functions as required
• This is a data-only backup, this means it does not save your server configuration in any way, so bear in mind that this solution is usually used in conjunction with some of our additional backup solutions for larger networked environments
• Our experience with this solution has shown that we can and do guarantee and support it 100%
• There is a once off setup fee calculated based on the data volume and your physical location in relation to the data centre where your backup is going to be stored

Notes:

• All the notes of the "data only plans" apply, however, these plans includes server specific options enabling server system state and database data to be backed up as well.
• Microsoft SQL and Exchange databases can be backed up and is included for free.

Note; storage add ons are available to all packages, advanced plug ins are only available to server plans.

So what do these plug ins do?

Microsoft SQL:
SQL Server 2000 and all higher versions are supported. You can now (from v2.2) choose between a Basic (free) & an Advanced SQL Server Plug-in. The Basic plugin uses the OSQL utility to dump the database(s) and thereafter uploads the locally dumped file to the backup server. The Advanced SQL Server plugin uses the VDI API to backup database(s) before uploading them to the backup server.

Features in the Advanced plug-in include:

Optimal use of dump files for local storage: the dump file is compressed and automatically purged after use.
Straight through Restore of SQL Server backup (as opposed to a 2 step process in Basic plug-in)
Comprehensive Backup & Restore report of SQL Server backup is available
Detailed SQL Server Backup & Restore email reports available

Please note that the Basic plug-in is integrated with the product and is available at no additional cost.

Data compression with the powerful ZLIB algorithm provides excellent compression ratios, military strength encryption (up to 448 bits) with the Blowfish algorithm ensures your data is always protected, and incremental backups capture byte level changes in your databases using Intelli-Delta technology based on the proven and powerful RSYNC algorithm !

SQL Server Backups are supported in Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2000 Server, 2003 Server & Small Business Server installations.

Microsoft Exchange:
Exchange Server backups for Exchange Server 2000 with Service Pack 3 / Exchange Server 2003 / Exchange Server 2007 are supported.

You can now choose between the Basic / Advanced Exchange Server Plug-in The Basic plug-in for Exchange Server backup is provided with installation at no extra charge and uses the NTBackup utility to dump Storage Group data. The Advanced (Plugin) Exchange Server backup uses the ESE API to backup Storage Groups and Mail Stores.

Features in the Advanced plug-in include:

System State / Active Directory backups are treated like any other data backup. The 1-Click selection of preset backups now includes the system state / active directory allowing you to simply select it with 1-Click.

No longer will IT managers require to have an array of application specific backup tools, especially the software additionally supports Exchange Server backups, SQL Server backups and MySQL backups in Linux as well. This is of course, over and above the software's ability to handle any other form of Disk to Disk data backup.

So what is the process?
Simple really, we install and configure the required software based on your backup needs, perform a manual "snap-shot" first backup of your data, integrate this with our data centre for storage and from there the differential data is transferred via the Internet based on a set automated schedule chosen by you.
